The programme will cover:
Important paperwork when starting as a new GP - getting onto the performers list, changing indemnity status, the GP register, CRB.
Career options for the new GP - salaried, locum, partnership, working overseas, working Out of Hours, medicolegal work, humanitarian work, working on a cruise ship and more.
Starting out as a locum GP - becoming self employed, getting work, how to set fees and Terms and Conditions, invoicing, and tax and expenses advice.
Becoming a salaried GP - what you need to know - the BMA contract, working for GMS, PMS, APMS surgeries, payscales.
Partnerships - all you need to know - understanding practice accounts and pay, making the most of mutual assessment periods, parity, buying in to property, partnership agreements.
Becoming a GPSI / GPwSI - developing a special interest, qualifications and getting accredited, setting up a GP with Specialist Interest service.
Negotiating skills for doctors - the basics of negotiating, types of negotiation, how to get the best deal for all parties.
There will also be a dedicated question and answer session to address specific / personal questions, and a chance to speak to the programme director 1 to 1 at the end of the day.
