GP Interview Skills Course - Salaried / Partnership Interviews

GP Interview Skills Course - Salaried / Partnership Interviews

Price: £275.00

Date / Venue:
Wednesday 31st March 2010 - BIRMINGHAM

Increase your chances of securing that GP job (salaried or partnership) with our 1 day preparation course.

In the current job market, competition for GP positions is very high, with over 50 applicants per salaried post, and over 100 applicants per post for some partnerships. This course will show you how to prepare a great CV and covering letter, what to expect at interview, and how to stand out. It will teach you the key theory, as well as giving you an opportunity to face mock interview questions and to give both prepared and unprepared presentations (a common part of many GP interviews).

The course will cover:

How to get shortlisted - preparing a great CV, the covering letter, how to make your application stand out.

Sample interview questions - how to give a structured answer, mock questions in front of a panel with individual feedback.

Presentation skills - how to prepare a presentation, delivering an effective presentation, Powerpoint tips and tricks. You will have to present twice in front of the group - a 5 minute prepared presentation (the topic will be emailed to you prior to the course) and a 5 minute unprepared presentation - the topic will be given to you on the day. You will receive individual feedback and suggestions on how to improve.

Hot topics in General Practice - topical issues, what you need to know about polyclinics, extended hours, APMS, the Darzi review, revalidation and more.

Mock interview - you will have a mock interview with feedback on your performance.

This course is run in a small group - maximum 5 candidates, to allow time for individual feedback.

Feedback from previous courses:

"Just to say, thank you for the great course. I promised to send feedback - I think the course is unique and great. It helped me to understand a lot about interviews, to know my weak points, and I had a good chance to present in front of you and the other candidates. I went for intervew yesterday, that is 1 day after the course and I got the job I wanted. Thank you again for you and for your team."

"The course was an eye opener as well and I think I learnt a lot about how an employer is assessing a candidate."

"Thank you very much for an interesting and challenging day last Saturday. I am grateful for all your help and guidance in preparing for job applications. The course has increased my understanding of what is a good CV and current interview requirements and has shown me where I have work to do!"

"Without a shadow of a doubt this course aided me in being shortlisted, and ultimately facing my personal fear of the interview process - I believe it is no coincidence that within 1 week of attending this course I was thankfully blessed with my dream of a GP Partnership within my district." Dr Avichal Sharma, GP Partner, Scotland
